CONSTRUCTION SURVEYOR – HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEYOR
We are looking for a potential candidate with knowledge of all aspects of the survey industry, with a preference for someone with experience in the construction industry and/or hydrographic surveying. The potential candidate will be required to travel and work in various locations throughout BC and comfortable managing the survey operations for a project site.
Duties:
- Operate and maintain survey equipment including (but not limited to):
- Robotic total stations with a variety of survey computation platforms
- GNSS RTK GPS systems
- Multibeam and Single Beam sonar systems
- Tide Gauges
- LIDAR spatial scanners
- Process data and perform advanced survey computations for construction survey layout on both land and the marine environment
- Coordinate within a project team, review plans and resolve problems on a construction site
- Operate/assist a boat with both inboard and outboard power for hydrographic survey data collection
- Follow QA/QC protocol during acquisition and processing of hydrographic and terrestrial survey data collection
- Create as-built survey plans using CADD software and/or project specific software packages
- Assist with mobilizing and demobilizing survey vessels and equipment in the field
Education/Experience:
- Post Secondary education in Geomatics (diploma or degree program)
- 2+ years experience in the survey industry utilizing current technologies is preferred
- Preference given to candidates with hydrographic survey experience
- Working knowledge of various CADD packages with preference to those candidates with experience in Autocad Civil3D
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Basic knowledge of hydrographic survey data acquisition and processing software with preference to candidates with experience with HYPACK
- Candidate must be legally able to drive in BC
Additional Requirements:
- Valid BC Driver’s license
- Ability to obtain Small Vessel Operators Proficiency (SVOP) training and Marine Emergency Duties (MED) training
- Ability to work flexible hours and in inclement weather
